Owner's Engineer - Substation

100% Remote | U.S.-Based

About the Role
ExecuPOWER is hiring an experienced Owner's Engineer (OE) specializing in substation projects. In this fully remote role, you'll act as a technical representative and trusted advisor for our clients, ensuring that substation design, equipment, and construction meet regulatory requirements, industry codes, and owner standards.

What You'll Do

Act as the technical interface between clients and contractors on substation programs.
Review and provide feedback on design deliverables, drawings, equipment specs, and protection/control schemes.
Monitor project execution, identifying risks to cost, schedule, safety, and quality; recommend mitigation strategies.
Support procurement through vendor evaluation, bid reviews, and equipment compliance checks.
Provide construction oversight, including site inspections, technical clarifications, and QA/QC verification.
Oversee testing, commissioning, and energization to ensure safe and reliable substation performance.
Facilitate alignment among stakeholders, contractors, and regulators.
Deliver timely project documentation and reports to support client decision-making.

What You'll Need

Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred.
10+ years of experience in utility substation projects.
In-depth knowledge of utility standards, IEEE, NESC, and NFPA codes.
Strong ability to interpret complex designs and communicate with diverse stakeholders.

What Sets You Apart

Hands-on expertise in substation design, physical engineering and/or protection and control, and commissioning.
Prior experience as an Owner's Engineer or within a utility's capital projects team.
Strong problem-solving and project coordination skills.
