Market development & Strategic Opportunity Identification
- Support the development and execution of C&I business strategy in alignment with corporate growth targets.
- Identify and develop new revenue streams in private power markets — including third-party PPAs, captive structures, and power exchange-based transactions.
- Continuously scan the market to prioritize target C&I segments (manufacturing, IT/ITES, data centers, RE100 corporates, etc.).
- Provide strategic inputs on product offerings (RTC, FDRE, hybrid solutions) and new market opportunities to leadership.
- Drive customer acquisition and sales in key C&I segments -manufacturing, IT/ITES, Data Centres, RE100 corporates, etc
- Build and manage a robust sales pipeline for Open Access and Corporate PPA deals across priority states.
Deal Origination, Structuring & Contracting
- Lead deal origination - proactively identify potential C&I customers and initiate business discussions.
- Lead commercial structuring, pricing, and contract negotiations with C&I customers.
- Manage the full deal lifecycle - origination, customer engagement, commercial structuring, pricing, negotiation etc.
- Work closely with internal teams (Legal, Risk, Finance) to develop and finalize PPAs and Open Access agreements.
- Ensure alignment with regulatory frameworks and market best practices
Customer & Ecosystem Relationship Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key C&I customers, consultants, and market intermediaries.
- Liaise with aggregators and external partners to facilitate:
- Land aggregation for captive structures (where required).
- Connectivity arrangements with DISCOMs, SLDCs, and CTU/STU.
- Act as the primary point of contact for customers throughout the deal lifecycle and post-contract relationship.
- Work to enhance customer experience and drive repeat and long-term business
Market and Regulatory Intelligence
- Track and analyze market trends, regulatory developments, and competitive landscape in the C&I market.
- Provide actionable market insights to support internal decision-making on product development, pricing, and go-to-market strategies.
- Collaborate with Policy & Regulatory Affairs team to address regulatory challenges and influence policy outcomes favorable to the C&I business
Educational Qualification
Minimum education qualifications for the position
MBA / PGDBM (Marketing / Finance/Power Management) Bachelor’s in technology (Electrical / Mechanical / Power) preferred
- Deep Understanding of Non-Utility Market (Bilateral trading, open access, C&I) power markets
- Experience in C&I power sales, Corporate PPAs, Open Access markets, or non-utility energy markets
- Proven track record in deal origination, negotiation, and closure of PPAs / OA deals.
- Strong understanding of power market dynamics (OA charges, banking, C&I buying trends)
- Familiarity with state OA regulations, STU/CTU processes, and DISCOM interfacing.
- Experience in liaising with aggregators, land and connectivity partners, and regulatory stakeholders
- Strong analytical skills and business acumen
- Strong Negotiation Skills and Client Relationship management
- Customer centric and solution-oriented approach
- Ability to work with cross functional teams and in an unstructured environment
- Overall experience: 10-15 years in business development
Specific experience: 5+ years in power trading, open access, third party PPAs, etc
