Job Purpose: Grounds Quality Tech I will ensure proper care and upkeep of Zoo Atlanta’s buildings, grounds, pathways, and public event spaces. This position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of common areas within a building such as lobbies, hallways, restrooms and outdoors spaces.
JOB FACTORS:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Ensures the highest quality care and upkeep of Zoo Atlanta buildings, grounds, pathways, landscapes and event spaces from a general cleanliness, maintenance, and upkeep perspective to ensure superior guest satisfaction and safety.
- Perform basic cleaning tasks like sweeping, mopping, vacuuming floors, dusting surfaces, cleaning outside of habitat windows and touch-points, emptying trash bins, cleaning restrooms, and replenishing supplies in designated areas while ensuring the overall cleanliness to the highest standards by following established cleaning protocols and safety guidelines.
- Assists with event setup, operations, tear down and event venue cleanup as well as maintenance quality control. May require working evenings on occasion.
- Performing routine cleaning tasks and replenishing supplies in designated areas, ensuring overall cleanliness and hygiene in a facility while adhering to safety protocols and following a cleaning schedule.
- Ability to work independently and follow cleaning schedules while paying attention to detail in order to maintain a high standard of cleanliness.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and equipment
- Actively participates in Zoo-wide organizations and professional organizations.
- Must be willing to support Zoo Atlanta’s Vision, Mission, and Values statement.
- Any other miscellaneous projects/assignment assigned by Zoo Atlanta’s Facility management team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge & Skills:
- Must have demonstrated experience in working in a team-oriented environment with a strong customer service attitude.
- Must be able to work a flexible weekly & weekend schedule including working a combination of day, evening and overnight shifts if required.
- Zoo Atlanta is open to the public 363 days out of the year, therefore, all positions at Zoo Atlanta may require employees to work some weekends, holidays and evenings.
Physical Demands:
- Physical ability to be able to stand for extended periods of time.
- Physical ability to be able to walk for long periods of time over extended distances.
Work Environment:
- Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather.
- Employee is expected to work outside more than 50% of time, must be comfortable working in cold and hot weather conditions.
