To help deliver this, the Hydrogen Finance team works closely with the business to help them evaluate, prioritize and progress their projects by providing them with access to expert commercial and financial skills, advice and mentorship.
Job Synopsis:
As the Hydrogen and CCS Senior Finance Planning Analyst, you will be expected to support in areas of business planning, performance management and commercial analysis. Your responsibilities will include leading and supporting monthly performance management processes, quarterly planning cycles, integration, portfolio quality analysis, management information for senior management. In addition, this role will hold main accountability for maintaining and developing reporting tools to improve the efficiency of collecting, analysing and reporting management information. This role benefits from analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as digital skills to support the consolidation and analysis of large amounts of data.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and manage tools and process for consolidating business inputs, creating portfolio level view of costs and financials. Develop operational improvements to improve efficiency and deliver enhanced management information
- Develop insightful performance management analysis across regional and functional lens
- Acting as a Subject Matter Expert and key point of contact for project controls integration, LCOH analysis and portfolio consolidation tools
- Supporting development of bp’s H2CCS strategy through developing portfolio tools and market analysis. Develop portfolio scenarios, including farmdown and financing options
- Partnering with project controls to ensure accurate and efficient cost forecasting, helping to challenge and provide insight into H2CCS plan delivery risks and opportunities
- Identification of technology options to simplify, standardize, and automate reports and economic models
Functional Requirements:
- Practical experience of economic evaluation and modelling
- Expertise in MS Excel and experience managing complex models or reports.
- Ability to challenge assumptions and model inputs
- Strong commercial acumen demonstrated in prior roles
- Can apply financial and accounting concepts to financial models and has the ability to analyse financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow)
- Able to confidently to present to business leaders
- Advanced MS Word and MS Power Point skills
Other Requirements:
- Experience and/or understanding of drivers of renewable energy, power industry and gas value chain businesses
- Understands debt and equity structures, including off-balance sheet financing and joint venture arrangements, and hedging instruments
- Ability to manage multiple/conflicting priorities with a strong track record of delivery
- Analytical skills – ability to understand data quickly and draw out key messages and insights while maintaining rigor and attention to details
- Can influence project direction based on their understanding of the economic analysis and strategic/business frame.
- Can influence portfolio choices based on cash cost, capex and financial insights and optionality
- Strong interpersonal skill will the ability to interact effective with a wide range of technical and commercial stakeholders at both a more junior and senior level.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics or equivalent business degree. Alternative of Computer Science related degree with proven commercial & financial acumen
- CFA, CIMA or equivalent is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience of planning and performance management or conducting detailed project level economic analysis of complex projects.
- Proficient with data science applications and/or Python would be a plus.
