What you’ll do:
As Solar Resource Analyst you will report to the Head of Engineering and will be responsible to manage the resource assessments, the energy yield assessments and layouts of new build utility-scale renewable energy power generation plants, with focus on solar and storage projects. This includes resource assessments and layout optimization activities from origination through pre-construction.
This role will be based in Toronto, and you will be expected to work from our corporate office a minimum of 3 times a week in line with our hybrid work model.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop optimized solar project layouts for various solar module technologies and site capacities to maximize project value
- Support internal resources on site measurement plans including solar measurement station deployment and configurations
- Either directly or working with third parties, create internal solar and/or resource and energy yield assessment reports and conduct due diligence on third party reports for development and financial evaluation
- Coordinate with engineering team members on PV system configuration, design and system loss assumptions
- Stay apprised of current and emerging research and trends in the field of solar resource assessments and operational performance analytics.
- Support capacity, performance ratio, and other performance testing of solar
- Develop, either directly and/or with third parties, optimized BESS layouts for various BESS technologies
- Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, or Physics is required. Equivalent experience may be considered.
- 2-3 years of experience in resource assessment in renewables, with experience in solar a must.
- Proficiency in PVsyst solar resource assessment software is required.
- Proficiency in AutoCADand/or civil3D.
- Experience with specialized solar layout software such as PVcase is a plus.
- Familiarity with typical computer software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint).
- Experience with meteorological measurement stations for solar a plus.
- Experience in solar performance testing and reporting a plus.
