Job Description Summary
Accessories Incompressible Design Engineer develops Water, Oil, Liquid fuel systems and hardware for heavy-duty gas turbines in the 50-500 MW range. This includes compression, filtration, heating, cooling, instrumentation, and control equipment used throughout the combined cycle power plant. Primary responsibilities include development of new and innovative designs through the NPI process, customization, and optimization of existing designs for new orders, and executing requisition scope of projects. This position offers a broad, cross-functional, and variable work scope for a driven, experienced engineer. The person will be responsible for on-time delivery and quality of assigned NU requisition projects and NPI programs. The person will be responsible to meet/exceed defined KPIs with sustainable improvement by applying lean tools, methods, and standard work creation.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
- To develop system level architecture for GT Oil, Generator Seal oil and H2 systems.
- Develop new and innovative equipment designs to support emerging business needs and market demands. Design next generation products by optimizing trades between major system interfaces for performance, cost, and reliability.
- Customize existing equipment designs to meet project specific contractual requirements and location specific codes and standards.
- Work with GEV Power Customer Service Engineering, field personnel, and customers to conduct root cause analysis and execute corrective action for reliability, quality, and/or performance issues in existing designs. Drive resolution of such issues with appropriate sense of urgency.
- Collaborate with internal engineering teams, manufacturing personnel, and external suppliers to create cohesive design strategies, drive product quality improvements, and improve project financial margins through variable cost productivity.
- Self-identify and lead process improvement projects with significant business impact, using LEAN tools and practices.
- Provide leadership within the team as a focal for customer-focused quality, Variable Cost Productivity, ITO bid development, module design integration, or other key stakeholder aligned roles.
- Perform engineering calculations & analyses (sizing and selection of system components) as needed while executing the project to validate integrity of hardware and software designs.
- OTR execution of project with end-to-end ownership including operational requirements, design development, vendor equipment evaluations, commissioning support, field issue resolution.
- Review, evaluate, approve Supplier designs and calculations by working with Sourcing to ensure cost effective solutions as well as quality of products.
- Inspect equipment and perform design reviews at supplier shop floor or at customer sites during installation & commissioning phase.
- Provide field issue support for responsible systems, hardware and provide the resolution with sense of urgency.
Qualifications/Requirements
- B. Tech/B. E/M.tech in Mechanical with excellent academic record.
- Minimum of 10 to 12 years of applicable power plant auxiliary system design engineering experience or in a related engineering discipline
- Minimum of 3 years of detailed plant or major equipment (GT, ST, Generator) including design of pumps, heat-exchangers, control valves, piping etc.

- Direct field experience at either power plant, major supplier, EPC or customer
- Familiar with GEV Gas Turbine product lines & Power Plant Designs.
