Job Title: Project Controls Lead- Sustainability
Reporting directly to Skeena’s Sustainability Department Vice President, Environment and Regulatory Affairs, The Project Controls Lead- Sustainability is responsible for managing all aspects of the Project Control’s functions across the Sustainability department, including planning/scheduling, procurement/contracts & buying, deliverable tracking, quality control, estimating and document Control.
This position will collaborate closely with the Controls and Contract team for Project Engineering and Operations as well as the Finance team. The Project Controls Lead will oversee the scheduling, reporting, estimating and budgeting to support the Sustainability department’s responsibilities for the Eskay Creek Revitalization project to ensure a cost effective and efficient delivery of project objectives.
Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Cost Control Oversight
- Oversee Cost Control for the Sustainability Department and ensure all planning & scheduling targets are delivered.
- Responsible for managing the project budget and accruals and maintaining the project cost data in the cost management system.
- Ensure that project cost controls are applied and adhered to at all times.
Financial Planning & Reporting
- Provide Cost Control expertise to direct projects towards Earned Value Reporting and reconciliation of Budget to Actuals and Forecast to Completion.
- Forecast project costing and provide financial reports and updates to Senior Management teams, notifying them of concerning trends critical to the project’s financial performance.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with other teams to achieve project performance targets in schedule planning, financial performance, and project execution.
- Drive a collaborative culture by working with various departments such as Finance, Environment, and Site teams to ensure all costs, scheduling, and objectives are aligned.
- Develop and maintain key external relationships with consultants, contractors, and external stakeholders, while overseeing contractor/vendor invoices.
Procurement & Cost Efficiency
- Work closely with the Procurement and Contracts Manager to manage purchasing in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.
- Develop and implement new concepts in work simplification and cost reduction, including life cycle costing, value analysis, vendor analysis, and recommending regional solutions.
Project Controls & Scheduling
- Build on Skeena’s existing Project Controls tools and develop and optimize them to ensure maximum efficiency in Key Quantity Tracking, Estimating, and Document Control.
- Provide baseline schedule development and management, performance status and reporting, baseline change control, risk management, earned value management guidance, and tools.
Project Governance & Standards
- Support program integration, governance, formats, plan optimization, and project controls best practices.
- Support and advise on the definition of project procedures and the standards required for project delivery.
Other Responsibilities
- All other related duties as required.
The Ideal Candidate
Education / Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline preferred.
- Strong understanding of the mining sector in British Columbia.
Experience / Skills
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in project controls or a related field.
- Proven expertise in project management, including advanced knowledge of project controls techniques and principles.
- Experience collaborating with local Indigenous partners within established procurement and contract frameworks is an asset.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Exhibits a high degree of responsibility for confidential matters
- Effective team player who can jump in wherever is needed

Work Location & Conditions
This is a hybrid-based job, requiring the individual to travel to Skeena’s Corporate office located in Vancouver, Smithers, or site locations on a monthly basis. Depending on the candidate and the business needs of the organization at the time of offer. The working location and conditions will be discussed with the successful candidate at the time of offer to reach an agreement that is mutually agreeable.
Additionally, the job is in a fast paced, and at times stressful working environment, with having to manage multiple competing priorities.

Compensation
The expected salary range for this position is CA$90,000 - CA$125,000, in line with the competitive job market for such roles carried out in British Columbia. Salary ranges are guidelines and any job offer received by a candidate will be determined on a number of factors such as relevant education, training, and/or experience.
