Due to the continuing success of these programs and the increasing demand for graduates in this field, we are now seeking suitable candidates for the position of Sessional Lecturer/tutor (Part-time teaching staff) in related areas, with a special focus on the following disciplines:
- Environmental and Social Impact Assessment
- Human and Urban Geography
- Environmental processes and Global change
- GIS
- Biodiversity
The appointees will be experienced academic/faculty members and will be responsible for teaching and supervision in related subjects across both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Environmental Science. Applications are invited from candidates with a master's (postgraduate) qualification with a focus in Environmental Science or a related discipline. A relevant degree plus industry experience may suffice for lecturing at the undergraduate level. Membership in professional bodies and associations will be an added advantage.
Duties
- A leadership role in curriculum development and teaching.
- Subject coordination.
- Significant contribution to the profession, and/or discipline.
Selection Criteria:
- A PhD or a Masters degree in a relevant Environmental Science discipline mandatory
- Knowledge in one or more of several potential subject areas including: EIA & SIA, Human and Urban Geography, Environmental processes & Global change, GIS, Biodiversity
- A publication record relative to career stage.
- Evidence of academic leadership.
- Evidence of quality teaching and supervision of students at under- or postgraduate levels.
- The ability to teach across a range of subjects at various levels.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective relations with colleagues in an academic environment and with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
