Join our innovative team at Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium, where technology meets conservation! We are adding a Full Stack Developer who thrives on developing cutting-edge digital solutions that enhance both the guest experience, as well as critical behind-the-scenes operations.
In this role, the Full Stack Developer will take end-to-end ownership of projects, working across the entire tech stack to build seamless, scalable solutions. Utilizing modern frameworks, APIs, databases, and multiple front- and back-end languages, this position plays a key role in shaping our digital ecosystem.

Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions (including but not limited to):
- Work across the full stack to build scalable, distributed solutions that enhance user experience and drive business growth.
- Develop new features and infrastructure to meet the evolving needs of the business and emerging project requirements.
- Take the lead on new projects, guiding them from initial concept through to deployment.
- Ensure performance, uptime, and scalability of applications, while maintaining high standards for code quality and design.
- Follow agile development methodologies, implementing best practices and continuously seeking opportunities for learning and improvement.
- Lead all phases of the software development lifecycle, including design, implementation and deployment.
- Architect, build, and own end-to-end systems, including infrastructure, front-end, back-end, and API integrations.
- Primarily work with Ruby, Python, Node, React and JavaScript to develop solutions.
- Collaborate with internal teams to optimize system integrations and streamline enterprise ecosystems.
- Partner with stakeholders to gather data and provide actionable insights for decision-making.
- Contribute as a subject matter expert in defining technology goals and shaping strategic vision.
- Explore opportunities to apply skills in areas such as computer vision/ML with animal health and behavior,IoT, wearables, and scientific research depending on expertise and organizational priorities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

- Strong proficiency in both front-end and back-end technologies, with hands-on experience in Ruby, Python, Node, React and JavaScript.
- Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and optimize highly scalable, distributed systems.
- Deep understanding of agile software development practices.
- Skilled in architecting end-to-end systems.
- Expertise in optimizing application performance, ensuring uptime, and scaling systems to meet user demands.
- Self-starter with the ability to multitask effectively.

- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Strong analytical skills with a focus on creating efficient, sustainable solutions.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Required Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of three to five years of professional experience in full-stack development.
- Proven experience designing and deploying large-scale applications.
- Experience working with agile development teams and leading projects from concept to delivery.
- Strong understanding of web frameworks, APIs, databases, and server-side technologies.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Advanced knowledge of programming languages such as Ruby, Python, Node, React, and JavaScript.
- Experience in capturing, organizing, and optimizing data to support data-driven decision-making, enabling effective measurement of project success and user behavior.
- Excellent debugging and optimization skills.
- Experience in unit/integration testing.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
