Title: Intermediate Environmental Professional, Planning & Reclamation/Remediation

Position Overview:
H3M Environmental Ltd. is seeking a highly motivated Environmental Professional to join our growing team in Fort St. John, BC. The successful candidate will bring expertise in environmental consulting or the upstream oil and gas industry, supporting a variety of sectors with pre-construction environmental assessments, environmental inspections, construction supervision, and post-construction programs. As a key point of contact, you will manage client portfolios, including environmental application requirements, site assessments, remediation, and reclamation initiatives, guiding projects from conception through to completion.
Role and Responsibilities: Duties include, but are not limited to:
Project Management

- Lead the planning, coordination, and management of environmental projects, ensuring all aspects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Manage client portfolios, maintaining and building strong relationships.
- Oversee the environmental application process, from front-end assessments to permitting.
- Supervise and mentor field and office staff as required.
- Develop and prepare high-quality technical reports based on data interpretation and analysis.
- Coordinate regulatory and stakeholder engagement to ensure compliance with all relevant standards and regulations.
Technical Support and Field Work

- Provide technical oversight for environmental site assessments, including Pre-Construction Site Assessments PSCA), Soil & Vegetation Assessments, Stream & Wetland Assessments, Avian & Wildlife Surveys, Schedule A & Schedule B, Phase 1 and Phase 2 Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs,) and Stage 1 and 2 Preliminary Site Investigations (PSIs).
- Perform environmental monitoring, groundwater monitoring, vegetation management, and soil assessments.
- Guide route planning, wellsite/facility siting, and environmental monitoring during construction.
- Support applications under the Water Sustainability Act and other relevant regulatory frameworks in BC and Alberta.
- Mentor junior staff and provide training on environmental monitoring and technical assessments.
Regulatory Expertise

- Maintain an in-depth understanding of BC and Alberta’s environmental regulations.
- Understanding of the oil and gas market, as well as a working understanding of regulatory framework, including:
- Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations throughout all phases of project development.
Qualifications:
- University degree or diploma in environmental science, engineering, biology, agrology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4-7 years of environmental consulting or industry experience, ideally in upstream oil and gas, municipal, or industrial sectors.
- Professional designation or the ability to obtain designation with a recognized professional body (e.g., APEGA, BCIA, AIA, CAB-BC, etc.).
- Proficient knowledge of BC and Alberta’s environmental regulations and guidelines.
- Strong technical writing and analytical skills, with the ability to develop clear, concise reports and documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary team environment.
- Experience managing and mentoring junior staff.
