This Opportunity
Our Site Investigation and Remediation team is seeking a full-time Environmental Engineer to work out of our Troy, NY or Buffalo, NY office.
This successful candidate in this role will take part in providing local technical assistance for the design, development, and construction of site investigation and remediation projects in the public and private sectors. Tasks may include assistance with the research, investigation, design, concept development, and construction of site remediation, groundwater treatment, site restoration, and ongoing site management projects. The successful candidate generates accurate and concise documentation regarding assigned aspects of the project and ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, and functionality.
Your Impact
- Support environmental engineers and environmental professionals in development and review of design drawings, project schedules, specifications, bid documents, and cost estimates.
- Assist project managers on development and implementation of investigation, design, and construction projects for remediation sites.
- Assist project managers and multi-disciplinary teams on the permitting and engineering design for energy projects across a diverse client base.
- Assist in development and review of technical reports: RI/FS reports, Work Plans, Pre-Design Investigation, Site Management Plans, and Engineering Design Reports.
- Assist with project research and field work including data collection, data evaluation and reporting.
- Prepare data and visualizations such as tables, charts, and figures for the interpretation or presentation of data, findings, or analyses.
- Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
- Assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site, surveys, blueprints, GIS data, maps, and other matrices for project development, design, and construction.
- Assist with verifying the characteristics of a site and providing technical assistance on various engineering, design, and construction issues.
- Construction oversight of subcontractors and construction management assistance, as needed.
- Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a confident and professional manner.
- Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures.
- Perform work in accordance with State and Federal regulations.
- Mentor junior engineering staff.
- Complete training on assigned tasks.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering, or closely related discipline.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant post education experience.
- Excellent research skills with analytical mindset.
- Familiarity with process and concepts for site investigation and design/build.
- Familiarity with relevant environmental regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
- Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
- Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
- Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
- Proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
- Travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Engineer in Training Certification, Professional Engineer licensure in NY State is a plus.
- OSHA 40-hour HAZPOWER Certification is a plus
- Strong interpersonal communication, organizational, analytical, technical writing, and strategic planning skills with attention to detail and a high quality of work.
- Task management experience including controlling scope, schedule, and budget is a plus
- Experience with Brownfield Cleanup programs and NYSDEC State Superfund remediations is a plus.
- Experience working with federal and state agencies (USACE, EPA, NYSOPRHP, NYSDEC, etc.) is a plus
- Familiarity with discipline-specific design software (i.e., MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D).

Compensation:
Expected Salary (all locations): $64,100 - $105,820
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
