Who we need
Reporting to the Divisional Financial Controller, we are looking for an Assistant Financial Controller, Environment & Agri North America to join us as a strategic business partner. As the new Assistant Financial Controller, you will provide insights that drive informed decision-making and operational efficiency. Your role will focus on budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support revenue growth, cost optimization, and profitability. You will monitor key financial and operational metrics, ensure accurate revenue recognition and work-in-progress (WIP) validation, and oversee financial controls for capital expenditures, receivables, and payables. Additionally, you will contribute to strategic planning, process improvements, and compliance oversight, ensuring financial accuracy and efficiency.
This is a full-time hybrid role that involves working 2-3 days per week in our Mississauga office.

How you will make an impact:
- Partner with the business to drive financial success. You will work closely with the business leaders within the Environmental Group, acting as a strategic finance partner. Your insights will support decision-making, financial planning, and operational efficiency. You will provide financial modeling, forecasting, and budget planning to align business goals with financial strategy, ensuring transparency and accountability across the organization.
- Optimize financial operations. You will oversee the preparation and review of financial reports, including monthly reporting packs, journal entries, and general ledger reconciliations. You will conduct internal reviews to ensure financial statements reflect operational performance and compliance. You will lead financial controls for capital expenditures, receivables, and payables.
- Ensure financial integrity and compliance. You will coordinate year-end audits and oversee audit preparations to ensure compliance with financial regulations. You will audit workflow processes to verify that all accounting transactions are appropriately authorized. You will investigate and justify expenditures and expense reports, ensuring financial discipline. You will maintain vendor and client relations, supporting efficient financial operations. You will oversee credit and collections functions, supporting cash flow management.
- Drive transformation initiatives. You will develop and maintain Finance Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to support compliance, ISO accreditation, and best practices. You will train staff on internal control procedures, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
What you bring:
- The financial expertise. You have completed or are in the process of completing your CPA designation. You have a strong applied understanding of financial principles, reporting standards, full-cycle accounting, and financial best practices. You can analyze complex financial data, identify trends, and provide strategic insights that drive informed business decisions. Experience in the manufacturing or industrial sector is considered an asset.
- The strategic business partner mindset. You understand the commercial impact of financial decisions and can bridge the gap between finance and operations. You partner with leadership teams to interpret financial performance, optimize costs, and drive profitability.
