Wood is recruiting for a Principal Carbon Advisory Consultant. This is an exciting opportunity within our Carbon Advisory team in Abu Dhabi, covering the Middle East region. This role will work closely with our Middle East Energy Transition Hub, which serves as a regional focal point for innovation, collaboration and expertise to support customers in transitioning to low-carbon energy systems whilst optimizing existing energy resources.
The Carbon Advisory Team sits across multiple sectors. The successful candidate will support clients in achieving their aims to reduce their carbon impact. This opportunity would be ideal for individuals with a carbon advisory, engineering or environmental background, who are keen to continue and expand their career in a fast-paced consulting environment. The Role
Our Principal Carbon Advisory Consultants will lead and assist the group’s consultants in developing and delivering work scopes. As part of this you will identify and secure new opportunities for winning work for the team.
In addition, as a principal consultant, you will be expected to lead studies and prepare study reports, assist clients in mapping energy and fuel usage, advise on any reduction opportunities and identify milestones on the road to net zero.
We have a library of training material for carbon advisory services and a companywide Energy Transition academy which you would be able to add to with your wealth of knowledge in the carbon advisory field.
You will have the opportunity to mentor and support with the development of other consultants within the team, ensuring the knowledge and experience you have is shared to support in the future growth of the team and industry.

Responsibilities
- Support and lead proposals to secure new work
- Lead studies and prepare and review study reports
- Assist clients to map energy and fuel usage and associated carbon equivalent emissions
- Assist clients to identify and screen reduction opportunities – feedstock, fuels, power sources, process & applicable technologies
- Work with clients to identify and cost the milestones on their road to net-zero
- Develop business relationships with clients and partnerships with in-house consulting teams
- Project manage and lead multi-disciplinary teams of engineers and other technical staff in the completion of projects
- Disseminate knowledge and expertise to team members and provide oversight of their project delivery work
- Provide a technical interface and mange relationships with clients
- Work with the other Middle East Energy Transition Hub segments to provide integrated solutions- CCS, hydrogen and renewables
- Accountable for the financial performance of any studies managed

QualificationsExpected:
- Master’s degree (or higher) in Process Engineering, Engineering Science, or a technical environmental/ sustainable development related subject
- Demonstrated strong ability to lead business development, project teams and collaborate across multi-discipline teams
- Demonstrated proficiency in international best practices in energy and carbon efficiency
- A thorough understanding of the international policy and economic frameworks driving climate change agendas
- An excellent understanding of carbon emissions quantification, decarbonization techniques, circular carbon economy, energy transition. Knowledge and experience in the Middle East are highly valued.
- Strong analytical skills and can systematically break a complex task into more manageable parts and identify the critical components of a problem
- Previous experience knowledge sharing and mentoring less experienced team members
- Proven health, safety, and environmental mindset
- Excellent communications skills both verbally and written
- Demonstrable high-quality report writing and presentation skills
- Proven organizational and project management skills
Desirable:
- Demonstrable background in decarbonization studies and/or lifecycle analysis
- Experienced in assisting clients to map energy and fuel usage and associated carbon equivalent emissions
- Experienced in assisting clients to identify and screen emissions reduction opportunities
- Chartered to an internationally recognized professional body (or working towards)
- Excellent negotiation skills
- Second language- Arabic is a plus
