Job Description
X-energy, LLC is seeking professionals to join our Quality Assurance Team in the role of Safety, Health, & Environmental Officer. This role will facilitate compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental and all relevant safety, health, and environment (SHE) legal requirements throughout the life cycle of the project. The role provides guidance on measures to minimize hazards or unhealthy situations, and uses technical knowledge and skills to anticipate, recognize, and evaluate hazardous conditions and recommend adequate corrective action(s). The role ensures corrections are made in a timely manner and implementation of appropriate controls. The role assures that all employees are provided a work environment that is free from any recognized hazards by establishing a safe workplace for all our employees and fosters a culture of attention to safety, health, and environmental conditions.
Job Profile Tasks/Responsibilities:
- Support the development of the company's SHE policies and programs for all relevant facilities and review existing policies, procedures and measures and update according to legislation and assures compliance with legal requirements and relevant statutes with regards to SHE.
- Ensure SHE assessments are conducted on relevant SHE processes and procedures and ensure issues or non-conformities identified are corrected in a timely manner.
- Advise and instruct on various safety and environment related topics (noise levels, air quality, recycling, use of machinery, etc.).
- Participate and act as secretary in SHE Committee meetings.
- Ensure that SHE Hazard Identification & Risk Assessments are conducted and enforces preventative measures.
- Establish Workplace Emergency Preparedness and Response Plans and ensure resources are identified and appointed for first aiders, fire marshals, evacuation wardens, and incident investigators.
- Manage and coordinate emergency response tasks in any emergency.
- Ensure that all emergency drills are conducted as per schedule or as needed.
- Authority to stop work in progress that does not comply with X-energy, statutory or legal requirements where the safety and health of personnel is in jeopardy. Stop any unsafe acts or processes that seem dangerous or unhealthy.
- Bring unresolved issues/risks directly to appropriate leadership to obtain resolution.
- Interface with the training department and initiate and organize OSHA training for employees, contractors, and maintenance personnel.
- Conduct relevant SHE office inspections (e.g. first aid, AED, fire extinguishers) and ensure issues or non-conformities identified are corrected in a timely manner.
- Oversee construction, installations, maintenance, disposal of substances, etc. where applicable to ensure compliance with OSHA, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and X-energy standards.
- Ensure that any near misses, incidents, and accidents are recorded, reported, and investigated as per procedure.
- Provide yearly report on Incident Stats and submit to OSHA, where applicable.
- Identify SHE problems; initiate corrective action, recommend, or provide solutions and verify implementation of solutions in all areas regarding X-energy activities as appropriate.
- Ensure X-energy partners, suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors are performing in a manner consistent with X-energy OSHA and SHE standards when on X-energy premises, reviewing practices through on-site inspections to ensure compliance and taking corrective action for non-compliances and deviations.
- Stay familiar with all relevant infectious disease resources available through the current Center for Disease Control (CDC) and others and ensure that all relevant safety procedures for infectious disease are implemented and followed, including all relevant infectious disease signs are prominently posted.
- Support and promote the company’s safety culture in all activities.
- Maintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication.
- Lead the execution of the core tasks and responsibilities, listed in the Job Profile Task/Responsibilities section of this document, without close supervision and some latitude for independent judgment.
- Provide feedback and guidance to more junior team members with the execution of the core tasks and responsibilities listed in the Job Profile Task/Responsibilities section of this document.
- Shares knowledge related to industry best practices and standards with others across the team.
- Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
Job Profile Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Environmental, Safety & Health or another relevant field required.
- Typically, ten years of experience in a SHE related role required.
- Basic-level knowledge of OSHA and Environmental regulations, codes, standards and requirements, relevant EPA procedures including ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Construction Health and Safety Technician.
- OSHA 30-hour training certificate or training card; Five (5) years of 8-hours of formal safety and health-related training per year (certificates).
- Advanced-level knowledge of OSHA and Environmental regulations, codes, standards and requirements, relevant EPA procedures including ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
- Experience in writing SHE procedures.
- Experience in writing reports for SHE.
- Experience with safety plan development and review.
- Experience with construction site safety inspections.
- Experience with building inspections.
- Experience with accident investigations.

Work Site Expectations: 5 days in office

Compensation
As required by Maryland and other applicable state law, X Energy, LLC (X-energy) lists the expected compensation range for a publicly advertised job opportunity based upon the job requirements (e.g. education/training, experience, skill sets, etc.). Individual candidates who meet the job requirements for the posted position will be offered a salary within this range based on their respective levels of education/training, experience, and other qualifications unique to them. Salary ranges may vary based on the specific office location and region referenced in the posting to take into consideration differences in cost of living and may not be reflective of all regions. Please note that compensation ranges listed for US job postings reflect base salary only and do not include benefits or other incentives.
A reasonable estimate for this position at the level of experience required is:
$101,700- $129,950
