Job Description:
We are seeking a Corporate Environmental and Safety Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the fleet, DOT compliance, team member required DOT training and support, and supporting the Sims-Lohman safety culture. The Corporate Environmental and Safety Manager will lead and drive DOT compliance and safe operation of the fleet for the organization. The position requires up to 50% travel.
Essential Functions:
- Lead and drive DOT compliance and safe operation of the fleet for the organization.
- Be the subject matter expert for Department of Transportation (DOT); utilizing expertise to advise and hold the management team accountable.
- Educate and train employees on DOT standards and compliance.
- Observe and audit fleet and drivers for compliance; communicate results to management and recommend solutions.
- Drive and manage property damage and near-miss reporting, investigation, and corrective action process.
- Lead continuous improvement activities to improve fleet inspections/audits for compliance; drive and ensure immediate resolution of hazards and drive management team for sustained resolutions and results.
- Develop positive relationships with state and federal agencies, including resolution of compliance issues with state and federal agencies.
- Manage fleet inventory and preventative maintenance schedules.
- Lead new ways to promote a safe culture with our drivers.
- Provide strategic and professional support to the development of Company and department goals and objectives.
- Continuous improvement of DOT related systems, processes, policies, and procedures.
- Evaluate practices, procedures, and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law.
- Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention.
- Monitor compliance to policies and laws by inspecting employees and operations.
- Inspect equipment and machinery to observe possible unsafe conditions.
- Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities, or new prevention measures.
- Report on health and safety awareness, issues, and statistics.
- Perform jobsite safety reviews and provide feedback to delivery and installation team members.
- Perform miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required.

Work Environment:
This position operates in an office, warehouse, fabricating, and construction site environment. The team member is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions. The noise level in the work area can be loud.
Required Education and Experience:
- 5+ years’ experience in application of the Department of Transportation regulations
- Subject matter expert on Department of Transportation Requirements
- Demonstrated experience developing positive relationships with state and federal agencies, including resolution of compliance issues with state and federal agencie
