Application Engineer
Smyrna, TN (Hybrid Onsite Role)
We are seeking a talented Application Engineer to join our team and play a pivotal role in project engineering for power monitoring and control systems. The successful candidate will join a team of engineers responsible for the design of standard hardware offers and project industrial control panels that are based on Schneider's Energy Management and Industrial Automation product lines. The Application Engineer will work with Sales & Marketing, Project Managers, and Technical Leaders to design and support solutions based on project specifications and industrial codes and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design of industrial control panels for electrical power monitoring and control systems
- Review and apply industry and company codes and standards to panel designs
- Function as a project technical resource for other Application Engineers and Project Managers
- Provide training and support to Engineering Services department on standard solutions
- Manage relationships with suppliers to ensure process efficiency and product quality
- Assist with quotation support on custom solutions
- Assist the marketing department with the development and maintenance of new and existing offers
- Configure hardware and software for equipment or system validation at our production facilities
- Domestic travel up to 10%
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or substantial equivalent experience
- 3 - 5 years' experience designing control panels including hardware selection and layout, power distribution and communications wiring, and final testing.
- Experience using AutoCAD Electrical or SEE Electrical Expert to build electrical schematics and panel layouts
- Familiarity with control panel fabrication and installation processes
- Knowledge of industry standards such as NEMA, NEC, UL and IEC
- Experience with using and specifying Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC)
- Working knowledge of communications protocols such as Modbus RTU/TCP, BACnet, etc.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
