Position Summary
The Manager of Solar and Storage Reliability Initiatives is expected to be knowledgeable in renewable energy, specifically solar and storage resources, power electronics, inverters, and related components, and their integration into the grid. The candidate will support SEIA and its member initiatives on emerging developments across the industry and support on all aspects of reliable integration of solar energy resources into the grid. In particular, the candidate will be supporting SEIA’s involvement in the development and implementation of the new ISO/RTO/NERC voltage and frequency ride-through regulations, modeling, interconnection requirements impacting all current and future inverter-based resources (IBRs). The ideal candidate is expected to have a good understanding of the dynamics around solar energy reliability, power electronics, evolving industry standards, OEMs, and supply chains. Experience or familiarity in Solar energy integration, IBRs, PPCs, modeling techniques, ISO/RTO requirements, DER interconnection, and storage aspects. Experience working in a utility company, EPC firm, Developer, consulting company, or an OEM is preferred.
Core Duties & Responsibilities
- Track, document, and create educational content and support on all aspects of reliable integration of solar energy resources into the grid.
- Assist and support SEIA’s policy on reliable integration of Solar and Storage IBR resources.
- Participate in regional and national working groups and task forces related to IBRs and track associated standards to support SEIA’s members.
- Knowledgeable in inverter-based resources, modeling and integration standards/requirements across NERC/ISO/RTO’s and advise on best practices. Familiarity with industry standards such as IEEE 1547 series, UL1741, IEEE2800/2800.2, and other regional ISO or NERC standards/requirements related to IBR.
- Knowledge of current and emerging Solar and Storage interconnection requirements across ISO/RTO’s and advise on best practices that support seamless integration.
- Liaison with SEIA’s OEM members, DOE, National Labs, and peer organizations to study and analyze emerging standards, developments, and tests and support related activities.
- Plan, host webinars and conferences to communicate topics of importance to ensure reliability of Solar and Storage resources.
Professional Experience, Education & Other Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience in Electrical Engineering or related field with renewable energy, inverter-based resources or modeling expertise
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Excellent oral communication, writing, and editing skills, including meticulous attention to detail
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills

Working Conditions
- Work is in an office environment or remote environment that is suitably equipped with internet and telephone access.
- SEIA employees in the Washington, D.C. region follow a hybrid remote and in-person office model. Employees are expected to work a minimum of 3 days a week in an office environment and as needed when there are special events or meetings.
- Travel may be necessary.
Compensation Range
$65,000- $70,000 annually, based on experience and excellent benefits package.
