Team/division description
Material Engineering division (ME) is part of the R&D group at Toyota Motor Europe Technical Center in Zaventem, Belgium. By utilization of wide and deep material knowledge as well as evaluation & analysis capability, its mission is to conduct research, to develop and to introduce attractive & environment-friendly materials.
The Fuel Cell (FC) technology team is responsible of investigating and developing innovative technologies to reduce cost and/or improve performance of FCEV: from the FC stack to the hydrogen tank, the team supports the introduction of these technology to the final product and contribute to strengthening the Toyota image in Europe.
Your project
Your activity will mainly cover (but not exclusively):
- Characterization and analysis of mandrel materials for filament winding
- Establishment of H2 liner testing devices and procedures (e.g. H2 permeability)
- Recycling of carbon fiber reinforced plastics
You will use different approaches to deal with these topics, from literature study to material characterization to actual sample production and testing. The goal will be to identify technology gaps and issues, suggest solutions and improvement.
You will work closely with different members and possibly different divisions, and the achievements during your internship will support improving EU capabilities of TME in the FC materials development.
