Position Description
EIP is seeking a dedicated and proactive Finance Specialist to join our team for a New York City building decarbonization program. This role is pivotal in helping building owners, property managers, and other market stakeholders understand and secure financing for decarbonization projects, to complete energy related building upgrades and meet compliance requirements for Local Law 97.
Objectives of this Role
- Client Support to Increase Decarbonization Financing:
- Provide building owners, property managers, service providers and other stakeholders an overview of relevant financing opportunities within the NYC building decarbonization program network, based on project scope, building typology, affordability status, borrower financials and preferences, financial product criteria and other requirements.
- Introduce prospective borrowers to lenders in the NYCbuilding decarbonization program provider network through facilitated meetings, serving as the decarbonization finance expert to serve as a resource for both parties.
- Facilitate the efficient delivery of loan application documents, supporting communications between parties to increase pipeline completion.
- Help prospective borrowers understand term sheets, compare financing options, and help break down loan costs.
- Re-engage prospective borrowers and their stakeholders after initial inquiries to complete financing for decarbonization building upgrades.
- Document and provide stakeholders with an overview of relevant building decarbonization tax incentives, tax credits, and property tax abatement programs.
- Outreach and Engagement: Build and nurture relationships with participants in affordable housing, market rate multifamily housing, commercial properties, service provider networks and capital providers, fostering strong connections to the NYC financing assistance program.
- Awareness and Education: Increase awareness of the NYC building decarbonization program financing assistance and provider network, serving as a subject matter expert at public online and in person events, internal team and stakeholder meetings.
- Expand Financing Provider Network: Manage aspects of the Provider Program, an established network of financing providers partnering with NYC program. Assist in the recruitment of capital providers to theNYC financing provider program who offer building decarbonization lending products. Conduct in-depth research on decarbonization finance products and markets in order to maximize financing opportunities.Conduct financing provider onboarding sessions. Track and maintain updates to available financing products, term sheets and other marketing collateral as well as status changes to participating capital providers.
- Coordinate Quarterly Reporting: Communicate reporting requirements, coordinate quarterly reporting and document financing reporting internally.
- Data-Driven Improvements: Maintain accurate records of financing assistance efforts and participant progress, using data to refine strategies and improve program outcomes.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams to align efforts, streamline operations, and enhance service delivery to NYCbuilding decarbonization program participants.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities
- Participant Guidance: Provide one-on-one financing guidance to participants, helping them navigate the NYCbuilding decarbonization program financing opportunities, grants, tax incentives, rebates, abatement programs and other relevant resources.
- Outreach Execution: Engage and re-engage building owners, property managers, service providers and capital providers through targeted outreach efforts, prioritizing projects with high emissions reduction potential.
- Event Participation: Assist marketing team with organizing finance related events, and participate in workshops, webinars, and educational events to promote the financing assistance program and recruit participants.
- Data Management: Maintain detailed and accurate records of financing related outreach activities.
- Feedback Collection: Gather participant feedback to evaluate the effectiveness of the program and recommend improvements.
- Collaboration: Coordinate with internal teams to align outreach and engagement strategies with program objectives, ensuring seamless operations.
- Support: Senior financing team members with additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Undergraduate degree in finance, economics, accounting or mathematics from a four-year college or university.
- Experience: Minimum 5-7 years of full-time work experience in either lending, capital solutions advisory, or related financial services.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, with the capacity to convey complex information clearly and persuasively.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills: Advanced knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, and Word are required, familiarity with Salesforce and project management platforms.
- Relationship Building: Proven ability to establish and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders, including government agencies, community organizations, and private sector partners.
- Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and project management capabilities, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Passion: A genuine commitment to sustainability, energy efficiency, and environmental justice.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge: Familiarity with decarbonization financing, clean energy, energy efficiency, electrification, sustainability, resiliency and/or building decarbonization, LL97, PACE and Non-PACE financing.
- Sector Experience: Experience working with affordable housing, NYC and/or state agency programs.
- Event Coordination: Experience in organizing and executing events, workshops, or educational programs related to energy efficiency or sustainability.

- $95,000- 110,000 annual salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
