JOB SUMMARY: This position is a FISH AND WILDLIFE BIOLOGIST, GS- 0401-12 working in Anchorage, AK for the R7-ARD-Ecological Services and Fisheries.This position will serve as the Conservation Planning Assistance Coordinator for the Alaska Region. The position is responsible for coordinating with staff across the region on environmental reviews and implementation of other environmental regulations and statues. MAJOR DUTIES: As a FISH AND WILDLIFE BIOLOGIST your duties will include but are not limited to the following: Reviews a wide variety of the most complex and diverse Federal land and water resource development proposals to determine their effects on fish and wildlife resources. Reviews existing, new, and proposed regulations, legislation, and statutes pertaining to fish and wildlife resources. Recommends appropriate procedures for implementing provisions of these mandates and establishes key contacts with other agencies, organizations, and individuals. Provides guidance to other biologists in matters pertinent to areas of special expertise. Participates in diverse, complex, and multi-disciplinary planning efforts with public and private groups and state, local, and Federal agencies to achieve Service policies, objectives, and goals.
