Belonging to the Operations Engineering Team and reporting to Lead Structural & Mechanical Engineer, the Senior O+M Engineer (structural) will be responsible for defining and implementing the strategy to manage Offshore structural assets for multi-million offshore O&M campaigns. This includes management of contractors and associated interfaces, ensuring quality, best practices and excellent H&S performance are applied.
The Operations Engineering Structural team is required to provide technical advice and expertise at all stages of the project lifecycle e.g supports the contract strategy by determining what needs to be procured and provides technical assessment to the O&M package/Site Managers ensuring that delivery is to agreed design and quality standards.
You will be working as part of a global business and therefore also support with activities in many countries across Europe and the rest of the world. The focus however will be on developing and supporting the UK Offshore windfarm sites and developing the asset management system related to offshore structures.
Responsibilities
Leading technical due diligence of new Offshore Windfarm structures to ensure design, installation and operations capture O&M best practice, you will efficiently manage maintenance contracts, striving to reduce maintenance costs and contributing to maximize business EBITDA.
Defining the necessities, improvements and maintenance strategies of Offshore structural assets to guarantee highest asset availability, compliance with regulatory requirements and best service quality following best industry practices and international standards, you will identify business technical risks related to asset condition and propose necessary actions/plans to mitigate those risks as much as reasonably possible.
Assessing any technical issue related to structural assets, carrying out Root Cause Analysis and proposing/implementing necessary actions to avoid any re-occurrence, you will extend any lessons learnt and the identified best practices with other Offshore hubs.
Preparing method statements and implementing required corrective and preventive maintenance activities to maintain/recover assets availability/reliability either within ScottishPower or through Contractors, you will coordinate and manage related maintenance activities with local Iberdrola technical site teams to guarantee execution timescales and works quality to comply with applicable H&S rules.
Alongside new Offshore project teams and the Structural & Mechanical Lead, you will define the best technical solutions for new Offshore projects under development and construction to guarantee best performance and maintainability condition after the Commercial Operation date starts.
As you prepare Scope of Works and Supplier Technical Evaluations, playing an active role during the procurement processes to make sure that the most technically qualified providers are selected, you will interact with the Global Technical Services, Offshore site teams, Fabricators/Manufacturers, Grid Operators, certification and regulatory bodies as long as required.
What you’ll bring
Degree qualified with experience in offshore wind, oil & gas or a related field, with sound knowledge in the area of structural integrity, inspection and maintenance activities of Offshore structures.
Interfacing between management team and the site teams to provide expert support to the running of operational assets, you will possess strong financial acumen and an understanding of cost and income drivers within an asset management business.
Highly developed in influencing and negotiation, including the ability to obtain buy in from all levels of the organisation as well as external providers to deliver effective operational processes, you will be able to influence and lead a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and suppliers focused on differing interests, requiring high levels of business knowledge, influencing and negotiating experience.
Taking account of broader Business perspectives, you will be able to interpret how these impact long-term objectives and define and implement appropriate actions whilst identifying critical operational performance requirements that add value to delivery of quality services to customers.
Dealing with ambiguity and/or incomplete data in the option development and decision making processes, you will be required to implement strong planning and co-ordination skills over a long term time horizon, prioritising work and delivering results whilst managing multiple stakeholders and competing demands within a rapidly changing environment.
Being commercially sound with the ability to demonstrate strong analytical and problem solving skills, you will possess a solid understanding of economic and physical processes associated with asset management.
