Job Title: Production Shift Supervisor

Job Summary: We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Production Supervisor to oversee our manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will ensure smooth production processes, maintain high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency, and support a dynamic team in a fast-paced, automated environment.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Manufacturing Oversight:
- Supervise daily production activities on assigned shifts, ensuring smooth workflow.
- Monitor equipment performance and address malfunctions promptly.
- Ensure adherence to production schedules and output targets.
Team Leadership:
- Manage, train, and mentor a team of operators and technicians, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and develop personal growth opportunities.
- Handle recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees to build a capable team.
- Address and resolve personnel issues while maintaining compliance with the collective bargaining agreement (if applicable).
Safety and Compliance:
- Enforce compliance with safety protocols and regulatory standards.
- Conduct routine safety checks and risk assessments to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Address workplace safety incidents promptly and implement preventive measures.
Quality Assurance:
- Ensure products meet quality standards and specifications.
- Investigate and address quality issues in collaboration with the Quality Assurance team.
- Implement corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
Production Planning and Reporting:
- Complete production plans by scheduling and assigning personnel, establishing priorities, and monitoring progress.
- Compile, initiate, sort, and analyze production performance records and data.
- Report results on shift production summaries and recommend operational adjustments.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to enhance operational efficiency through process improvements.
- Participate in cross-functional projects to optimize workflows.
- Support the implementation of lean manufacturing principles and cost reduction strategies.
Equipment and Process Management:
- Ensure equipment functionality by initiating repairs and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
- Monitor processing variables and implement improvements in operational methods.
- Facilitate corrections to malfunctions within process control points.
Professional Development:
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and participating in professional societies.
- Stay updated on state-of-the-art manufacturing practices and technologies.
Key Requirements & Competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of experience in a production or manufacturing supervisory role, preferably in an automated manufacturing or high-volume assembly industry.
- Strong supervision, coaching, and team management skills.
- Proficiency in production planning, process improvement, and tracking budget expenses.
- Knowledge of controls and instrumentation, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle complexity and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in using manufacturing software and tools.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
Place in Organization Structure: Reporting directly to the Production Superintendent or Production Manager.
