Starting Pay Rate: Starting at $17.00/hr
Reports To: Assistant Manager / Area Supervisor
Schedule: Must be available for weekends and holidays, with weekday hours also available
Hours: Variable, dependent on weather and guest attendance; schedule subject to adjustment during spring and summer
Position Overview
Serve as a vital member of the New York Aquarium Merchandise Services team by assisting in daily operations and supervising gift shop activities. Collaborate with the management team to deliver exceptional guest experiences, optimize revenue, and uphold the mission of the Wildlife Conservation Society.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service:
• Deliver exceptional guest service by maintaining a comprehensive understanding of park exhibits and amenities.
• Enhance the guest experience by addressing inquiries and resolving concerns in a professional manner.
• Drive sales performance through a focus on key metrics such as Average Transaction Size (ATS), Units per Transaction (UPT), and the number of transactions.
• Communicate guest feedback and suggestions to the management team for continuous improvement.
Operational Excellence:
• Master and enforce cash handling policies and procedures, ensuring team-wide compliance.
• Safeguard data integrity by overseeing accurate register operations.
• Utilize customer service skills to minimize loss prevention and maintain appropriate selling floor coverage.
• Maintain an organized, clean, and visually appealing retail environment.
• Ensure timely merchandise replenishment to support ongoing sales activities.
• Manage stockroom organization for efficient inventory management.
Qualification Requirements
Qualifications
• Strong time management and punctuality; ready to perform duties as scheduled.
• Previous cash handling experience preferred.
• Excellent customer service orientation.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in basic computer and mathematical tasks.
• Self-motivated, proactive, and adaptable with the ability to multitask.
• Capable of working outdoors in varying weather conditions, including high heat and humidity.
• Ability to frequently move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Dependable and reliable team player.
