JOB SUMMARY: This position involves performing complex biological science technical support functions. The technician assists professionals and may engage in various program areas, requiring less than full knowledge of the field. Reporting to a specialist or resource manager. This role demands greater knowledge, experience, and judgment to resolve problems, select appropriate actions, and apply conventional methods to new situations, directly impacting natural resource activities than lower graded positions. MAJOR DUTIES: Surveys and treats invasive plant infestations using manual methods and herbicides, assisting park staff with vegetation surveys and resource management activities. Works independently and leads field teams to complete daily field activities safely and efficiently. Prepares and applies herbicide chemicals while maintaining application equipment and keeping detailed records of field activities. Utilizes GPS and associated technology to record spatial and attribute data, and produces summary maps and reports.
