JOB SUMMARY: This position operates large, complex riding lawn mowers that have multiple or independently controlled cutting decks, and/or specially designed mowers that operate on slopes; lawn and garden tractors with various specialty attachments such as gardening attachments, trenchers, snow plowing or removal equipment, etc. The equipment operated characteristically includes single-function performance and components that are independently controlled through various hydraulic and/or mechanical devices. MAJOR DUTIES: Operates light duty motor vehicles such as pickup trucks, panel trucks, vans, and sedans, and machinery such as lawn mowers, brush chippers, and snow blowers. Performs general equipment maintenance (change spark plugs, add oil, sharpen blades, check fluids). Performs janitorial tasks that include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and applying disinfectant chemicals. Operates power tools such as chain saws, pole saws, circular saws, drills, string trimmers, leaf blowers, and jack hammers.
