JOB SUMMARY: A selectee receiving a first appointment to the Federal Government (Civil Service) is entitled only to the lowest step of the grade for which selected. These positions are located in the Maintenance Division at Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve in Chalmette, Louisiana. MAJOR DUTIES: The Major Duties of the Maintenance Worker include, but are not limited to the following: Performs a variety of trade tasks often combining trade practices such as carpentry, wood crafting, roofing, masonry and painting. Performs carpentry work involving stabilization, preservation, or restoration of wooden historic structures. Performs simple and basic research of records pertaining to historic and/or prehistoric structures for the purpose of assessing their physical condition, style, preservation needs and conservation work required.
