Overview
Duties
As a Physical Science Technician, you will perform the following duties:
- Provides technical oversight to a team conducting Space Traffic Coordination activities, to include directing tasks, reviewing assignments, and explaining work tasks and best practices.
- Ensures safety of flight issues, including commercial human spaceflight, conjunction analysis, space debris ephemeris updates, commercial satellite owner/operator coordination/ephemeris updates, pre-launch, launch and early orbit support, and database operation.
- Performs updates that support an orbital database ensuring safety of navigation in space and performs updates that support conjunction assessment and collision avoidance for other active payloads.
- Works with external entities to task sensors for direct observation of satellite location in support of safety of navigation in space.
Conditions of Employment:
- COOP and Emergency Essential designation. Position is 24/7, weekend and holiday work on a rotating shift schedule.
- May require long periods of standing, bending, or stooping during high priority or emergency events.
- This position requires the submission of a Financial Disclosure Form, OGE 450.
Requirements
This position will be filled under the DOC Alternative Personnel System (CAPS). This system replaced the Federal GS pay plan and structure. Under CAPS, positions are classified by career, pay plan, and pay band.

Qualifications
