This position is part of the Office of Science - Consolidated Service Center, Department of Energy. As an Accountant, you will be reviewing, evaluating, and making recommendations on contractor practices; conducting desk reviews; analyzing and reconciliating of financial data; reviewing various cost proposals; and evaluating financial transaction.

Duties
As an Accountant, you will:
- Work with contractors to prepare financial reporting, and analyzes and reconciles contractor data.
- Conduct reviews of various types of cost proposals which can include an evaluation of the allowability, allocability, and reasonableness of costs; and assessment of the proposed total costs.
- Conduct desk reviews to ensure indirect rates claimed are in accordance with allowable cost principles.
- Analyze and recommend improvements on contractor practices while focusing on Cost Accounting Standards coverage and costs principles.
- Perform analysis and reconciliation of accounting/financial data and information, reviews and identifies errors.

- This position has been designated as Non-Critical Sensitive and requires a security clearance at the "L" level. The incumbent is required to obtain and maintain this clearance; failure to do so may result in separation from federal service.
- This position is included in a Bargaining Unit.

Qualifications
BASIC REQUIREMENT:
A. Degree: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's or higher degree that included a major field of study in accounting; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law.
OR
B. Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge.
