The typical seasonal period for these positions is April through October but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: April 2025.
Overview
Duties
Duties at the GS-05 grade level.
- Implement established natural resource management projects.
- Identify native and non-native plants in Northeastern United States natural areas including wetlands, meadows, woods, and garden areas.
- Complete trainings and follow instructions and standardized safety procedures associated with the use of field equipment and handling of herbicides.
- Work with crews managing invasive plants and restoring native vegetation.
- Collect and organize field data associated with the management of plant species.
Duties at the GS-07 grade level.
- Implement established natural resource management projects.
- Identify native and non-native plants in Northeastern United States natural areas including wetlands, meadows, woods, and garden areas.
- Complete trainings and follow instructions and standardized safety procedures associated with the use of field equipment and handling of herbicides.
- Lead field crew managing invasive plants and restoring native vegetation.
- Record data relating to plant studies and plant treatment areas using GNSS equipment.
- Lead or conduct field searches for populations of sensitive, threatened or endangered plant species.

- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
- Males must meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement.
- Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
- You may be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided.
- You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and/or shift work.
- You may be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties.
- State pesticide application certification/license is required after entrance on duty date.
Qualifications
All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-01/16/2025-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement.
To qualify for this position at the GS-5 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-4 level in federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors).
EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least a 4-year course of study above high school leading to a bachelor's degree in an accredited educational institution.
COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Successful completion of a COMBINATION of education and experience as described above.
