JOB SUMMARY: This position is in Region 5, Water Division, Permits Branch, UI Control Section. About Region 5: https://www.epa.gov/aboutepa/epa-region-5 This is an office-centered position--you must physically report to one of the duty stations stated in this announcement on a regular basis (location TBD after candidate selected). MAJOR DUTIES: You will: Provide authoritative advice and assistance to USEPA Headquarters, other Regions, and state, local and/or tribal governments on matters relating to the development, execution, and monitoring of adequate environmental protection policies, plans, and programs including the Safe Water Drinking Act (SWDA) and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). Perform work (issuance, reissuance, and modification) related to the issuance of injection well permits, land ban exemptions, and/or the oversight of state implementation of Underground Injection Control (UIC) programs. Use analytical methods and techniques to analyze a wide range of scientific, engineering, legal, environmental protection, and/or environmental management issues. Review and implement environmental technical standards, guidelines, policies, and formal regulations.
