What’s the Opportunity?
Anchor QEA is seeking to hire a Laboratory Scientist to work full-time in the Environmental Geochemistry Laboratory in the Portland Office. We are interested in a candidate that has the capacity to grow, is a quick learner, is detail-orientated, enjoys working independently and with a team, and possesses strong written and verbal communication skills. A successful candidate will have a degree in geological science, chemistry, environmental science, environmental engineering, chemical engineering, or related program as well as a strong interest in environmental geochemistry and the operation of a stellar environmental geochemistry laboratory. A successful candidate will have opportunities to work on a variety of tasks of differing complexities, both independently and in team environments, learning directly from leaders in the industry.
Responsibilities:
- Perform environmental geochemical laboratory work, including data analysis and reporting, to support remedial investigations, feasibility studies, remedy implementation, and research and development initiatives
- Maintain laboratory equipment and chemical, sample, and waste inventories
- Develop and implement quality assurance/quality control practices and standard operating procedures
- Some fieldwork may be required (e.g., to support passive sampling or other sophisticated data collection)
What Are We Looking For?
Ideal candidates will have the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in geological science, chemistry, environmental science, environmental engineering, chemical engineering, or related program
- 1 to 3+ years of experience in a laboratory setting
- Ability to work independently in a laboratory setting with potentially hazardous substances
- Experience and/ or interest in passive sampling techniques
- Experience and/ or interest in treatability studies
- Experience and/ or interest in developing and carrying out research projects to improve capabilities of the laboratory, including supporting research publication efforts
- Experience and/ or interest in working in anaerobic chamber/controlled atmosphere conditions
- Experience and/ or interest in X-Ray Fluorescence Spectroscopy
- Experience and/ or interest in Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy
- Detail oriented with meticulous note taking and data organization
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while adhering to deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and other common office software

Base Level Benefits for Regular Full-Time Positions:
