Sustainability at Babson has made significant progress on many sustainability initiatives, from energy efficiency to academic curriculum. Significant opportunities remain for new initiatives; however, deepening our current initiatives is a core component of our plan for climate neutrality.
The Sustainability Office interns are student representatives trained to become sustainability change agents. Each intern is expected to actively promote Sustainability at Babson through outreach and engagement, especially through programing, tabling, and working at campus events. Interns will work independently on their own campus sustainability projects.
The intern program provides a dynamic work environment that includes both collaborative work and independent, self-directed work. Interns are expected to seek, act on, and evaluate new ideas and solutions for Sustainability at Babson. On average, interns work 5-7 hours per week, and are expected to participate in the weekly team meeting.
Through on the job training, each intern will be required to be literate in the following areas:
- General Sustainability at Babson
- General recycling at Babson
In addition, interns may have a specific focus area including:
- Recycling & Solid Waste
- Sudeeksha’s Secret Garden
- Communication
- STARS Data Collection
- Volunteer/Collaboration Facilitation
- Residence Hall Outreach
Programming includes:
- Semesterly Slash the Trash
- Babson Environmental Awareness Month
- Sustainability Fair
- Earth Day
- Clothing swap
Requirements:
- Strong writing skills and interpersonal skills
- Comfort in working with numerous types of media, specifically media such as Instagram
- Knowledge of effective communication techniques for large constituencies
- Confidence in working under pressure with short timelines
