What the Role Offers - Senior Environmental Health and Safety Officer
The Senior Environmental Health and Safety Officer will compile and manage the safety program for multiple work sites. Standardize health and safety practices across all work sites. Perform regular safety audits and inspections of worksites. Perform job hazard analyses.
What You Need to Succeed
- Responsible for managing EHS programs that may include: chemical safety, biosafety, contractor safety, emergency preparedness, radioactive material management, office and lab ergonomics, environmental compliance, and general safety.
- Develop and implement EHS programs, procedures, or systems to meet the needs of a growing company.
- Determine all safety/environmental-related regulations and standards that apply to the operations.
- Ability to clearly communicate requirements to research staff and provide hands-on support to identify solutions as needed.
- Maintain records, reports, and correspondence using computer databases and other software programs.
- Schedule and conduct regular safety education and training programs for all staff. Create courses to address EHS needs.
- Participate in formal and informal safety inspections/audits to detect hazards and unsafe working conditions; follow up with recommendations for corrective measures & track completion.
- Investigation of accidents/injuries to determine cause and to prepare recommendations for prevention. Assist with worker’s compensation claims and risk management.
- Evaluate operations to identify potential hazards and mitigate them proactively. Collaborate with internal groups to ensure safety and compliance while enabling research.
- Remain technically competent and keep current in new developments within the industry.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships as a trusted resource to internal customers.
- Develop and prepare all required cGMP documentation required for safety programs.
- Maintain safety equipment supplies for spill clean-up and response.
- Manage the certification of respirator training and supplies.
- Order spill response materials and maintain the inventory of supplies.
Required Qualifications:
- EHS experience supporting research laboratories required, Pharmaceutical Industry experience preferred.
- Requires four-year degree (BA or BS) with coursework in safety, environmental protection, engineering or related field.
- Excellent organization, communication, and presentation skills. Comfortable discussing requirements with all levels of organization.
- Proven problem solving and strategic thinking ability.
- EHS related certifications is a plus (CSP, CIH, CHMM).
Physical Demands:
- Adequate visual and mental acuity to maintain prolonged use of computer work.
- Multiple hours of standing, sitting, or walking when performing computer work.
Mental Demands:
- Self-directing, once training is successfully completed, but with the need to immediately elevate potential concerns/discrepancies to management in a timely fashion.
- Must maintain a professional demeanor in communicating with all Inventprise personnel.
- Ability to tackle various tasks and switch pace based on priorities.
Working Conditions:
- Onsite position in Redmond or Woodinville, WA. No remote or hybrid work is available for this position.
- Extended periods of time on the computer.
- Extended periods of time on your feet.
- Working in a warm environment wearing sterile gowning.
- Working with chemicals per standard operating procedure.
Estimated Base Salary: $90,000 - $107,000 / year DOE
