As a Senior Manager - Remediation and Contracting Environmental Programs, you will manage a team of environmental professionals supporting programs that are controversial, highly visible, organizationally important, and politically sensitive. You will work independently under consultative direction to develop solutions to a wide range of highly complex environmental issues. The position requires a particular specialization in remediation, contaminated site cleanup and contracting.
- You will oversee or participate in the negotiation of complex regulatory requirements and intergovernmental agreements, and other public or non-profit agencies/companies.
- You will oversee the establishment and implementation of remediation programs and processes that will ensure compliance with local, State, and Federal environmental regulations.
- You will plan, schedule, assign and direct the work of environmental staff in assigned programs to ensure that projects/programs are managed smoothly and in a coordinated effort.
- You will perform full supervisory responsibilities including assigning work to ensure a balanced workload, evaluating performance, awarding performance increases, and determining and administering discipline. You will also provide mentorship, coaching, training, and development opportunities to direct reports.
- You will develop and provide outreach to diverse audiences and stakeholders, including agency, tribe, community, and industry stakeholders, as well as senior and executive level staff and elected officials.
- You will partner with External Relations to develop communication plans and strategies.
- You will oversee and manage substantial funding and complex regulatory issues related to the overall program, including developing project goals and objectives, cost recovery including grant management, cost sharing agreements and insurance coverage.
- You will participate in annual capital and expense project reviews on a cross-department level.
- You will identify grant opportunities and work with Government Relations to advocate to grant providers to obtain grant funds for new and ongoing work.
- You will oversee, direct, and manage the development of highly complex consultant contracts including scopes, budgets, schedules, and the coordination of required documentation (Commission documents, Service Agreements, and Request for Quotes/Proposals).
- You will oversee the establishment and implementation of best practices, and new long-term and short-term strategies to achieve port-wide environmental goals and objectives to meet Century Agenda goals set by the Commission.
- You will use data analysis and reporting to develop approaches to move project/programs forward or to develop policies and strategies and identify risks.

- Work Schedule – Your normal work schedule will be Monday – Friday, 8\:00 a.m. to 5\:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role.
- Work Environment - This work will take place in a hybrid/in-office setting at Management’s discretion which will typically require at least 50% in-office work.
- Washington State Residency Requirement – Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.

- Experienced – You have six (6) years of experience in environmental and/or sustainability, to include three (3) years of experience supervising staff and managing a function of environmental programs.
- Desired – We hope you have a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Management, Environmental Science, Public Policy, Planning or Engineering. We hope that you have certifications as a Professional Engineer, Professional Geologist, or Project Management Professional (PMP).
