JOB DESCRIPTION:
World Oil Refining/World Oil Terminals Company seeks a candidate who can interpret, recommend and comply with air quality regulations and company policies, while also working on environmental compliance monitoring. This is a full-time position reporting to the Environmental Manager. This position requires a person who, in a dynamic working environment, can manage complex environmental quality monitoring and reporting in a timely manner. This position involves air quality reporting, along with day-to-day compliance associated with an asphalt topping plant, refinery, and bulk loading terminal. Primary responsibilities are to ensure the site’s conformance to federal, state, and local air quality legislation, including, Title V, Toxic Release Inventory, Greenhouse Gas reporting and verification, CEMS monitoring, and air quality permitting.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepares and submits reports and plans in the above environmental regulatory areas.
- Works with consultants and contractors to complete environmental projects.
- Acts as an escort during agency inspections and corporate audits.
- Develops relationships with environmental regulatory agency staff.
- Interfaces with refinery Operations and Maintenance staff to ensure compliance with environmental compliance programs.
- Conducts environmental training for Operations and Maintenance staff.
- Analyzes laboratory reports, maps, drawings, and environmental data.
- Collects, monitors, and analyzes environmental monitoring data.
- Conducts internal environmental compliance auditing.
- Develop procedures to ensure compliance with environmental programs.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- This position requires a minimum 1-3 years of experience, preferably in petroleum industry manufacturing and distribution operations.
- The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- The individual will have expertise in managing environmental compliance issues for refining and pipeline operations that operate in an urban setting.
- The candidate will have knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental requirements that apply to industrial operations in Southern California and the Western United States, preferably in the petroleum industry including, without limitation those laws and regulations overseen by EPA, the CARB and the SCAQMD.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, in engineering.
- Proficiency in Microsoft and Excel required.

Must be able to lift to 15 lbs.
