PositionSummary
The Applications Engineer provides technical expertise to support Canadian Solar’s energy storage solutions. This positionwillbe responsible forthe pre-sales activitiesof utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) including system sizing, preliminary design, and value engineering.
Thisrolewillrequirethechosencandidatetoworkcloselywiththecommercialandengineeringteamsto help develop proposals for new storage project opportunities and provide technical support to respond to customer needs. A senior level position will be considered for candidates with the right experience.
Responsibilities:
- BeatechnicalliaisonfortheSalesteamtocustomersand partners,andanexpertresource for general product specifications and value engineering discussions.
- AnalyzeRFPorothercustomerdocumentationtodetermineprojectscope,schedule, specifications, risk, and technical requirements.
- Developsizemodelsandconceptualdrawingssets(Electricalsingle-linediagrams,site layouts, etc.).
- Preparetechnicaldocumentationforproposalsandcoordinatethebidpackagepreparation with other departments.
- Workcloselywithsalesstaff,engineering,andprocurementtoensurecompleteandshared project understanding and priorities.
- Conducttechnicalpresentationsandprovideclarificationstocustomersandother departments.
QualificationsandSkills:
- Bachelor’sdegreeinengineering(preferablyElectricalorMechanical)isrequired;a graduate degree is strongly preferred.
- Directexperienceinbatteryenergystoragesystemsorutility-scalesolar,preferablyasan applications engineer.
- ProficientinAutoCADorrelatedsoftware.
- Exceptionaltechnicalaptitudeincludingtheabilitytoreadandfullyunderstandengineering schematics, technical advisory reports, and technology reviews.
- Solidunderstandingofregulatorystandardsrelatedtoenergystorageandgrid-interactive inverters.
- Globalperspectiveandawareness,anddirectexperienceworkingacrossdiverseculturesin a multinational company would be beneficial.
- Anexcellenttimemanager,abletobalancemultipleprojectsandprioritizeabroadvariety of issues, initiatives, and objectives concurrently.
