Job Description and Duties
Will Consider Transportation Planner
Under the direction of a Senior Transportation Planner, the Associate Transportation Planner is a full journey-level position that will assist with supporting the implementation of the Port and Freight Infrastructure Program (PFIP) in accordance with the California State Transportation Agency (CalSTA) adopted Guidelines. The PFIP is a $1.2 billion one-time funding program to help ease supply chain congestion and increase the State's capacity to move goods. Incumbent will independently assist, support, and or lead a variety of critical statewide Transportation Planning tasks, which will vary in complexity and sensitivity. The incumbent is expected to possess strong written and verbal communication skills, knowledge of Transportation Planning principles, the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team-setting, as well as a deep commitment to the Department’s strategic vision, mission, values, and goals, to provide excellent customer service through all efforts.
Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Associate Transportation Planner / Transportation Planner exam. For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions. It takes approximately 4-6 weeks from the cut-off dates to receive a score for your Associate Transportation Planner exam.
