Engineering Consultant – Offshore Renewables Projects
Salary range: £38,000 to £48,000 per annum depending on experience
Location: Leatherhead, Bristol or Glasgow
Working Pattern: We operate a flexible hybrid working pattern at Frazer-Nash, with time split between the office, client sites and working from home

We are currently seeking talented early-career candidates who have gained experience of supporting offshore renewable energy or oil & gas projects, and may be looking for a new opportunity where they can support the development and operation of the next generation of offshore renewable energy projects. The role would be largely office-based, providing consultancy support to a range of customers and projects, from early phase engineering through to construction and operations. Engineering consultancy can be varied and unpredictable, comprising both short technical projects and lengthy assignments supporting a single client, and your ability to multi-task and collaborate with others will be essential. The successful candidate will provide practical context to complement our recognised capabilities in physics and numerical modelling. You will have experience of solving problems and implementing solutions in a real-world environment. We want to implement that experience such that appropriate solutions or mitigations can be implemented in advance of problems being encountered offshore.
As the industry expands to meet the growing demand for decarbonised, cheap and reliable energy, we are seeking to grow our team with motivated and suitably experienced consultants to support us deliver on our extensive portfolio of offshore energy projects, and to further develop our services within the sector. Offshore wind is a core focus area, and we have a history of providing support to both fixed and floating offshore wind projects, but your offshore project experience will also be valuable for supporting other broader engineering requirements. We are approached by various clients, including developers, operators, turbine and foundation OEMs, and industry bodies, to assist in solving their problems across the offshore sector, and we are expanding our skill base further to better support these needs. We support these clients with projects ranging in timeline from the early phases of technical evaluation and concept selection, through to design specification, construction, commissioning, operations and decommissioning.
This role provides an opportunity to combine project management and engineering skills while contributing to the development and optimisation of new clean energy solutions in the offshore environment. The designated candidate will be enduring in both assisting and guiding client services while collaborating with team members for good results. As you develop, there will also be opportunities to support the future growth and development of our renewables business and industry network.

Essential & desirable requirements:
The successful applicant will have:
Demonstrable experience in the offshore energy industry through work with developers, OEMs and/or consultancies.
Experience of delivering systems to meet defined specifications.
A degree in Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics or related discipline.
The ability to work well with different teams.
Good communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
Self-motivation and organisation skills to deliver with limited supervision and manage project work to quality, time and cost.
It is to your advantage if you meet any or all of the following additional requirements:
On-site or operational experience within the offshore industry. Ideally this would include work in offshore wind, or other offshore renewable energy systems.
Working knowledge of developments in floating wind technologies and the offshore wind market generally.
Experience of supporting concept selection in the offshore industry, including appraisal of technical, safety, environmental and economic factors.
Familiarity with numerical simulation and data analysis.
Previous consultancy experience
Experience in writing proposals, client liaison and developing new business.
Due to the nature of the work that Frazer-Nash Consultancy undertake, candidates will be required to undergo pre-employment screening and must be able to satisfy clearance criteria for UK National Security Vetting.
