JOB SUMMARY: This position is a Geographer, GS-0150-11/12, working in Fort Collins, Colorado, for the R9-Natural Resources Program Center. MAJOR DUTIES: As a Geographer your duties will include but are not limited to the following: Data Collection and Analysis: Gather, analyze, and interpret geographical data from various sources (such as satellite imagery, GPS, and topographic maps) to support spatial decision-making and planning. GIS Mapping and Visualization: Create, maintain, and update digital maps, applications and visualizations using GIS software to represent geographical data, trends, and patterns for stakeholders and decision-makers. Geospatial Database Management: Design, implement, and maintain GIS databases to store, document (metadata), and organize spatial data, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and accessibility for various users. Technical Support and Troubleshooting: Provide technical assistance to team members and clients in using GIS software and tools, troubleshooting issues, developing user guidance documents, and offering solutions to ensure smooth GIS operations. Geospatial Modeling and Analysis: Conduct spatial analysis and modeling to solve complex geographical problems, such as land-use planning, environmental impact assessments, and urban development.
