JOB SUMMARY: This position is part of the Office of Science - Headquarters, Department of Energy. As an Nuclear Engineer, the Fusion Energy Science (FES) Enabling Technologies, Safety Research and Facilities Studies programs in the FES Enabling Science and Partnership Division you will be planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating research programs in enabling technologies, safety research, and future facilities studies. MAJOR DUTIES: As a full performance level Nuclear Engineer, you will: Develop tools for fusion to occur, and enhance safety of fusion energy, while analyzing future fusion facilities. Develop research programs for fusion energy facilities to operate world-leading research, build safety database and tools for safe energy production, and manage system studies for future facilities in Fusion Energy Sciences program. Collaborate with the Fusion Energy Science Facilities and Project Division to provide scientific direction in building new facilities. Identify Enabling Technology needs for fusion facilities to operate safely and effectively, addressing safety concerns. Prepare Notice of Funding Opportunities (NOFO) Announcements and Funding Announcements, reviews project proposals, and provides funding recommendations that are clear and accurate.
