Overview

MiCCA is seeking a visionary and results-driven leader to help guide our organization into its next chapter. This position will serve as the senior-most staff member for MiCCA, responsible for overseeing strategic direction, program execution, fundraising, staff management, and external partnerships.

The title and reporting structure for this role may evolve based on the outcomes of an ongoing organizational realignment and potential strategic partnership with a larger climate organization. In the case of a realignment, some administrative, fundraising and grant management tasks may be outsourced, and strategic planning will be embedded in the work of a larger organization. Our mission will remain the same.

About MiCCA / Our Mission

Michigan Clinicians for Climate Action is a small, but growing grassroots network of health professionals (~400 members) working to mitigate the health impacts of climate change through education and advocacy. Health professionals are trusted messengers; by using our collective voices we will help create a climate that is cleaner, healthier, and more just, where all Michiganders can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership and oversee day-to-day operations, aligning activities with MiCCA’s mission and long-term goals.
Manage and support a four-member team, including full-time staff, contractors, and AmeriCorps VISTA members.
Coordinate internal communications and organizational planning for MiCCA.
Drive fundraising strategy including grants, sponsorships, and individual giving alongside the Director of Operations.
Cultivate partnerships with external organizations, coalitions, and key stakeholders.
Represent the organization publicly and within partner coalitions and climate-health networks.
Work collaboratively with the Board of Directors and/or partner organization leadership on governance, strategy, and sustainability.
Lead the planning and execution of programs and events.
Represent MiCCA in coalitions, public meetings, and advocacy efforts as needed.

Qualifications

Leadership experience in nonprofit, public health, climate, or healthcare/advocacy settings.
Understanding of environmental health and climate-health intersections.
Proven track record of fundraising and grant management.
Experience managing staff or teams, with a collaborative and supportive leadership style.
Strong strategic thinking and project management skills.
Familiarity with climate- and health-advocacy landscapes.
Understanding of policy advocacy and grassroots organizing.
Excellent communication, relationship-building, and public speaking abilities.
Ability to work independently in a dynamic, evolving organizational environment.
Based in Michigan with deep knowledge of the state’s policy and public health landscape.

Position Details

Full-time
Must be prepared to start the training period June 2nd
100% remote, with occasional in-person meetings in Michigan and sometimes out of state
Must have access to high-speed internet, a computer with video capabilities, and a quiet, professional place to work (MiCCA welcomes outreach if this is a barrier)
Starting salary: $52,000 per year (final offer based on experience, qualifications, and reporting structure)
