Purpose:

BayWa r.e. Americas is seeking a Tax Director to join our Accounting team.

The Tax Director is responsible for managing the company’s tax compliance, tax planning, and tax risk management. This role involves preparing and reviewing federal, state, and local income tax returns, ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations, and providing strategic guidance on tax matters. The Tax Director will work closely with various departments within the organization to optimize tax strategies and processes.

Responsibilities we will trust you with:

Success in this role involves:

Advise BayWa r.e. Americas on the tax implications of financial decisions.
Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns, including corporate income tax, sales tax, property tax, and other filings.
Manage and coordinate with tax authorities and external advisors during audits or reviews.
Ensure compliance with all tax regulations and filing deadlines.
Maintain effective control procedures over all aspects of the tax process.
Prepare and manage the tax provision workpapers and ensure accurate reporting in financial statements.
Develop and implement tax strategies to minimize the company’s tax liability.
Identify tax-saving opportunities and recommend strategies to management.
Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments, communicate the effects of these developments to management, and create strategies to capitalize on changes.
Maintain accurate tax records and documentation to support tax filings and audits.
Partner with cross-functional teams, including finance, legal, and operations, to support tax-related initiatives.

Your areas of knowledge and expertise:

The ideal candidate demonstrates:

CPA certification (active or non-active) preferred
Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in a tax role, with at least 3 years in a leadership/ managerial capacity. Experience in public accounting is a plus.
Experience with federal, state, and local tax preparation.
Experience with income tax provisions prepared in accordance with IFRS and/or ASC 740 standards
Knowledge of tax preparation software.
Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax law and requirements.
