Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 55 lbs. Specific vision abilities may be required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals, and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment ranges from normal office noise levels to moderate. Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting quantitative and qualitative productivity standards. This is an on-site position to lead & coordinate with the following\: the Quality Management System, ensuring the plant's ongoing compliance with all quality certifications, and in providing technical support for Environmental, Health & Safety requirements.

The position is responsible for the Safety, Health, Environmental and ISO Quality policies, procedures, and operations at the manufacturing plant. The position is also responsible for training systems across all plant functional areas. Ensures the plant is in full compliance with all corporate, municipal, provincial, and federal government Safety, Health, and Environmental laws and regulations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

•Supports the vision, mission, and guiding principles of the company.

•Ensures all associates and contract personnel understand applicable Safety, Health and Environmental policies, procedures, and guidelines.

•Develops and maintains facility safety and environmental procedures that support corporate and regulatory requirements. Assists line and staff management to understand regulations and standards.

•Keeps apprised of developments in federal, provincial, and municipal safety laws likely to affect company.

•Responsible for industrial hygiene and medical monitoring programs for the plant.

•Ensures all incidents are reported to the required departments/agencies and all documents are distributed.

•Maintains facility safety files and records.

•Completes all local, provincial, and federal environmental reports to ensure plant compliance.

•Develops and implements audit systems which focus on accountability and corrective actions.

•Develops programs to improve plant safety performance to meet plant goals.

•Prepares weekly and monthly EHS reports summarizing key statistics, data and activities.

•Conducts and document new employee safety training and existing employee refresher training.

•Monitors and report facility performance for key EHS areas. Make recommendations for improvement.

•Responsible for plant’s chemical review process and associated activities.

•Develops and maintain HS&E training schedule for plant and ensure compliance.

•Provides safety support for all shifts. Respond to serious safety incidents or injuries, including accompanying injured employee(s) to clinic or hospital for diagnosis and treatment.

•Leads and actively participates in Joint Health & Safety Committee and cross-plant teams as needed.

•Leads Board of Review for safety incidents and/or injuries in conjunction with line and staff personnel.

•Supervises evaluation, purchase and distribution of safety equipment and supplies.

•Manages all Worker’s Compensation programs and guidelines.

•Performs Job Safety Analyses for new and existing processes where appropriate and develops hazard control practices and programs.

•Oversees installation, maintenance and auditing of all security, fire protection equipment and alarms.

•Escorts Avient Associates and/or visitors of all companies/agencies conducting EHS, fire, and physical security audits of the facility.

•Responsible for entry and management of all documents related to safety incidents, accidents and safety reporting, CAPA’s, R3’s and assigned tasks and safety participation into company ERP software system.

•Develops implements and maintains associate training program.

•Analyzes training system effectiveness to identify and correct opportunities for improvement.

•Ensures training records are current and maintained as appropriate.

•Maintains training system to ensure that supervisors/managers are aware of training needs for employees.

•Participates in Board of Review where necessary as an opportunity to improve plant training system.

•Prepares weekly reports summarizing key training data, activities, and upcoming needs.

•Develops and maintains facility ISO Quality Systems policies and procedures that support corporate and site requirements. Assists line and staff management to understand procedures and standards.

•Ensures all associates and contract personnel understand applicable ISO Quality policies, procedures, and guidelines.

•Supervises and coordinates the facility’s document management program in Etq system

•Responsible for coordinating, investigating, and managing site product complaints through QNS system.This process requires direct interaction with external customers, and cross-functional internal staff.

•Oversees site quality audits and meetings from external parties, including customers and third-party auditors
