Key Position Functions

Assist in maintaining the ongoing development, implementation, and effectiveness of the Company Health and Safety Management System. Ensure that all safety policies, procedures, rules, and regulations are followed.
Advise managers and employees about relevant safe work standards, practices, procedures, and regulations.
Evaluate work activities to determine potential hazards and ensure that adequate controls are in place.
Assess and support the safe work practices and procedures for compliance with all governing bodies.
Lead and assist with site inspections, hazard assessments, safety meetings, and field audits.
Review FLRA’s, JHA’s and pre-use reports.
Assist in organizing and conducting safety training sessions for employees.
Provide information and guidance on health and safety topics.
Assist in incident investigations ensuring they are completed fully, and that appropriate root causes and corrective actions are identified and implemented.
Assist with coordinating internal and external audits of SFI HSE management system.
Assist with developing and implementing the Joint Work Site Health & Safety Committees.
Comply with all formal communication and reporting expectations.
Promote safe work practices, fostering a strong safety culture.
Complete project work and other related duties as assigned.

Preferred candidates will possess a combination of the following:

Working towards or Completion of a recognized OH&S certificate program.
Standard First Aid with CPR level C Certificate.
Minimum of 2+ years of HSE experience.
Strong analytical, communication (oral and written), and organizational skills.
Self-motivated and able to work independently.
Proficiency with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); knowledge of SharePoint an asset.
The ability to travel as necessary to fulfill the above functions as directed.
