Senior Underwriter – Renewable Energy

London/Hybrid

The Opportunity:

We are looking for a Senior Underwriter to join our Renewable Energy team in London. As a Senior Underwriter in our Renewable Energy team, you will be responsible for underwriting insurance risks within our diverse portfolio. This role offers autonomy in making strategic underwriting decisions while fostering strong relationships with stakeholders. We're seeking a candidate with a deep understanding of the industry, commercial acumen, and a passion for driving business success.

Your role:

Underwrite insurance risks in alignment with the Business Plan and personal authority to achieve business objectives
Contribute to the development of the team’s business plan for the renewable energy book
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including customers, brokers, and colleagues, to maximize influence and support business goals
Develop strategic relationships in line with the Business Plan to facilitate the achievement of objectives
Ensure compliance with insurance strategy to mitigate risk and achieve business plan targets
Participate actively in shaping and developing strategy, knowledge, and best practices within the team.
Promote the department, division, and company brand positively to leverage brand equity effectively
Ensure adherence to all legal and regulatory requirements to meet obligations
Maintain underwriting standards, instructions, and best practices to minimize risk and enhance efficiency
Stay updated on market dynamics and demonstrate market cycle awareness to operate effectively
Communicate clearly and promptly with Underwriting Assistants regarding underwriting and aggregate exposures, ensuring accuracy in EO system entries

About you:

Proven experience in the Renewable Energy insurance market, demonstrating a strong understanding of industry dynamics
Commercial acumen to grasp key profit drivers and maximize long-term wealth for shareholders
Intermediate proficiency in relevant software, including Excel and other departmental tools
Excellent organizational, prioritization, and interpersonal skills
Strong negotiating skills with an innovative approach to underwriting and program design
