The HQ Workforce Operations Manager ensures operational quality and standard delivery of GRID workforce development programming across the organization. The Workforce Operations Manager requires strong skills in communication and organization as well as experience in project and program management. This is a position that requires strong relationship building with our affiliate and regional offices, and we are prioritizing internal applicants. The Opportunity…
- Partner with GRID’s affiliate offices, including our International and Tribal teams, by providing tools, training, and thought partnership for the continued growth of our Workforce Development programs
- Analyze systems, technologies and processes to help identify opportunities for continuous improvement, efficiency and support
- Identify Affiliate office’s needs for the development and strengthening of service and training offerings and collaborate cross departmentally to address those needs
- Ensure affiliate offices adherence to standard delivery of IBT and compliance with accrediting bodies
- Lead efforts to research and apply for additional credentials and certifications to bring additional value to our workforce development programs
- Work with Operations Director to improve and implement onboarding tools for new staff members involved with training programming
- Work with Operations Director to assess competencies of affiliate workforce development staff and offer feedback for improvements and professional development opportunities
- Directly manage the overall quality and standard delivery of our Installation Basics Training (IBT) programs, including overseeing compliance for IREC accreditation and other industry-recognized certifications or accreditations
- Research and develop best practices to enhance the overall efficacy of GRID Alternatives workforce development programs through systems and processes
- Support equity, inclusion and diversity initiatives within GRID’s workforce development programming and training activities
- Work directly with GRID Alternatives’ headquarters and regional staff to ensure curriculum and training program delivery are consistent with GRID Alternatives policies, best practices, culture and vision
- Coordinate and lead ongoing staff trainings and meetings. Facilitate the sharing of best practices
- Collaborate with GRID's Operations team to help build standard operating procedures and training resources to streamline workforce development operations
- Support and advance GRID Alternatives’ commitment to equity, inclusion and diversity work and continue to build an internal culture that seeks to examine and address systems of oppression and produces work that reflects that commitment
- Performs other duties as assigned.
What you need to bring to this role…
- 5+ years work experience with community-based organizations, education institutions or non-profits
- Experience in curriculum or program development
- Experience in meeting planning and facilitation
- Experience teaching youth or adults
- Experience in working with different types of training programs
- Experience with program evaluation or desire to learn
- Working knowledge of best practices for project management
- Demonstrated ability in planning and delivering of training
- Ability to work effectively under deadlines with excellent time management skills
- Strong attention to detail, interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills
- Comfort working in the digital space and meeting by phone, video conferencing and in-person
- Ability to adapt and adjust to new priorities and unexpected challenges
- Solid proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite and Salesforce
- Knowledge of the basics of renewable energy, solar energy and environmental justice
It would be great if you also had…
- Experience installing solar or doing other construction related activities
- Knowledge of the IBT curriculum and assessments
- Experience effectively managing and mentoring
- Experience working for or being a student in programs like those offered by Chicago Women in the Trades, Youthbuild, JobCorps, or similar programs
- Experience with program accreditation process
- Certification in CPR/First Aid and/or OSHA-10
