THE ROLE
The Facility Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the installation, maintenance, repair, and operation of conveyor systems and associated equipment. This role ensures that the conveyor systems are operating at peak efficiency, minimizing downtime, and maximizing productivity. The supervisor leads a team of mechanics and technicians, providing guidance, troubleshooting expertise, and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Lead, manage, and mentor a team of conveyor mechanics and technicians.
- Assign tasks, set priorities, and ensure work is completed efficiently and safely.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide training, and foster skill development for team members.
- Ensure the team adheres to company policies, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
- Oversee the routine maintenance and troubleshooting of conveyor systems, including belts, motors, drives, rollers, sensors, and control systems.
- Ensure proper lubrication, cleaning, and adjustment of components to prevent breakdowns.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues in conveyor systems.
- Coordinate the scheduling of preventive maintenance and repairs to minimize downtime.
- Supervise the installation of new conveyor systems or upgrades to existing systems.
- Work with engineering teams to design and implement system modifications or improvements.
- Ensure new installations meet operational and safety standards.
- Promote and enforce safety practices and protocols in all maintenance and repair activities.
- Conduct safety inspections of equipment and work areas, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to conveyor systems and maintenance operations.
- Oversee the inventory of spare parts, tools, and equipment required for conveyor system maintenance.
- Order and manage replacement parts, ensuring the availability of critical components.
- Track and manage maintenance-related expenses within budget.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and parts usage.
- Prepare and submit regular reports on the status of conveyor systems, maintenance schedules, and completed work.
- Provide recommendations for improvements or upgrades to enhance system performance.
- Identify opportunities to improve system reliability, efficiency, and safety.
- Implement process improvements and recommend technology upgrades to reduce costs and enhance operational efficiency.
- Stay current on industry trends, equipment advancements, and best practices.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification in mechanical or electrical engineering, industrial maintenance, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in conveyor system maintenance, mechanical repair, or a related field, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Experience with a variety of conveyor systems (e.g., belt conveyors, roller conveyors, automated guided vehicles) and components.
- Strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills.
- Familiarity with PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and automation systems.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Certified Maintenance Manager (CMM) or similar certification (preferred).
- OSHA 30-hour certification or equivalent safety training.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working in environments with varying temperatures, noise levels, and industrial hazards.
- Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and access confined spaces as needed.
- Industrial or warehouse settings.
- May involve exposure to hazardous materials and machinery, requiring adherence to safety standards.
- Shift work may be required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, depending on operational needs.
