Reporting to Manager - Protection & Control
The base salary range for this position is dependent upon experience and location, ranging from $128,833.60 to $177,147
JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for managing internal engineers and external contractors. Reports to Manager of Protection & Relaying. Supervisor will set policies, procedures, document standards and oversee engineering activities for electric transmission and substation system protection to ensure safe, timely and efficient system operation. Supervisor will have direct functional responsibility for Transmission and Distribution Operations and Reliability improvements for all four Operating Companies (CMP, NYSEG, RGE, and UI).
DUTIES:
- Analyze disturbance event operations to ensure protection scheme operated as intended. Develop and provide clear and concise fault analysis reports to management depicting corrective actions and lessons learned when necessary. Monitor and manage projects associated with corrective action plans.
- Coordinate with other departments, vendors, and consultants to complete projects, programs, and event analysis in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Process Management, Continuous Process Improvement, Project Management, Budgeting, generating Purchase Orders, reviewing Invoices, managing contracted engineering service agreements, and managing allocated department budgets in timely manner.
- Act as an advisor to upper management and an external representative to AVANGRID. Responsible for giving presentations to upper management and large internal audiences, as necessary.
- Train, mentor, and coach in the technical and professional development of engineers and cross-department employees.
- Represent the company on regional and national committees, including regulators: NYISO, NE-ISO, NPCC, and NERC.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 8 years of experience in Engineering of which 6 years of experience in Protection & Control.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Master’s Degree in Engineering or MBA preferred
- Professional Engineering License preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of power system analysis and fundamentals of equipment protection required.
- Prior supervisory experience preferred.
- Knowledge of national and international standards, regulations, and NERC, NPCC, and ISO compliance requirements associated with power system protection.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Strong Electrical Design Experience.
- Proficiency and fluency in power system protection theory, application, standards, design, test, commissioning, and analysis.
- Ability to work with Microsoft applications like Word, Excel, PowerBI, etc.
