The Lead OT Cyber Security Engineer will be integrated into an active and ambitious global cyber security function, contributing to SPEN’s cyber security purpose of delivering cyber-resilient OT and IT, to enable a safe and reliable electricity supply to customers. The role will involve working in a team alongside other security specialists and being responsible for ownership, designing, and implementing highly secure network solutions that protect against potential OT cyber-attacks.
As the Lead OT Cyber Security Engineer, you’ll be focusing on network and infrastructure domains - owning, designing and implementing highly secure solutions that protect against potential OT cyber-attacks. You will also help to support the design and delivery of security services to address key business requirements, providing guidance and technical leadership to project teams.
You’ll execute and delegate allocated work, recording and reporting progress to the designated project manager, whilst proactively identifying challenges in the programme. You’ll work with other senior stakeholders internally and externally to help articulate delays, risks and issues.
A key part of the role will be accountable for testing & assurance, ensuring that security is embedded in all stages of the infrastructure/systems deployment and to ensure continuous monitoring through operations. You’ll advise on and test the efficacy of measures to build security into continuous integration and deployment pipelines, and be proactive to anticipate potential threats and data breaches against SPEN and identify how best to deal with them. You will also be responsible for planning the requirements of the organisation’s OT estate, liaising with SP Energy Networks’ internal ‘customers’, and wider stakeholders across ScottishPower and Iberdrola.
What you’ll bring
- Experience of implementation, development and update of Cyber Security policies, procedures and working practices, including the Directive on security of network and information systems (the NIS Directive).
- Experience with designing, implementing and maintaining security tools/applications.
- Previous experience of first line IT or OT operational support.
- Demonstrates a deep understanding of common system platforms (Linux/Windows, Cisco).
- Experience of security architecture across different deployments (On-Prem, Cloud).
- An understanding of the PURDUE model and required security controls.
- Ability to produce reports to C-Suite level.
