Health Safety & Environmental Coordinator

Position Summary
Thales is looking for a Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) Coordinator to work with external compliance companies to ensure the design and/or materials used in development of Thales products, maintain environmental regulatory compliance by globally improving environmental performances on the full life cycle of the products/projects through eco-design deployment among others, and taking into account Thales HSE (Health Safety & Environmental) strategies, policies and objectives.
Product Compliance Coordinator will work with internal and external groups to achieve and maintain material and environmental compliance through cross-collaboration with the different functional teams both internal and external. This position will be responsible for staying abreast as well as partner with Regulatory Affairs to ensure new/updated standards and regulations are assessed and incorporated.
In this position, you will support at an IFE (In-Flight Entertainment) level for HSE Product topics (various products with HSE domain complexity). You will work with transversal employees from a wide scope of competencies: Product Policy, Engineering, Industry, Bids & Projects, Quality, Procurement, Support, Service, Quality, HSE Operations. You’ll also provide interpretation on technical questions of financial and regulatory compliance with applicable Country, state and federal statutes and regulations.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Along the full life cycle of the Product & Project (wide range and quantity of products and systems complex), work with all competencies implicated (Engineering, Industry, Bids & Projects, Quality, Procurement & Product policy, Support and services), the Product Coordinator:
- Ensure regulatory compliance of products (e.g.: hazardous substances, eco-design, energy, dismantling and end of life management…) with high HSE stakes for the product; Collaborate with technologists or external companies as needed to define substitution work to perform when needed; Ensure relevant HSE information are available to all functions working on product, bid/project or service, including regulatory HSE topics and eco-design.
- Coordinate with external companies to ensure material compliance with relevant global product and packaging regulatory and environmental legislations and directives (e.g., REACH Regulation, WEEE Directive, RoHS Directive, California Prop 65, Conflict Minerals, Batteries Directive) for Thales product portfolios
- Ensure components, packaging, and product information are accurately tracked in the appropriate databases; Coordinate with external companies on preparation and issuance of product related compliance (REACH, ROHS, etc.) declaration forms as required by specific country regulations and/or customer requests; Actively monitor and review developments in compliance requirements (i.e., new and/or updated requirements that may affect product portfolios) and report periodically on the status of product compliance.
- Using clear communication, support the cross-functional teams by providing compliance guidance, and communicating compliance progress, decisions, and strategies; Support Regulatory Affairs team with documentation in response to regulatory agencies inquiries, including compliance certifications, declaration conformity, regulatory letters, and technical packages; Coordinate with external companies as needed to ensure supplier information is kept up to date.
- Make recommendations to any design changes or material changes and assess their impact on compliance to the above directives; Identify the need, co-build or customize, and deploy relevant trainings when necessary, to all functions working on product, bid/project or service, including regulatory HSE topics and eco-design
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Biology, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, Toxicology, Natural Science, Earth Science or related field with a minimum of 1 to 3 years of related experience or Associates degree with 3-5 years of related experience.
- With limited supervision, must be able to work ethically, deliver a detailed high quality work product, be results oriented in a fast paced changing environment and handle pressure situations ensuring accuracy, attention to details and consistency in work; The ability to handle multiple projects at the same time while being able to keep each project on track and communicate issues with concise and actionable input is essential.
- Computer skills to include MS word, excel, access, teams, etc.; Knowledge of working with spreadsheets and tracking, trending and analysis of data; Effectively communicate (clear, concise, accurate) both orally and in writing; Capture and track data in support of site objectives, targets, programs, compliance and HSE Management reviews.
- Communicate and collaborate with external companies, employees, customers - individual and in teams - to ensure the facility is functioning efficiently and effectively to support the business and program needs and requirements; Investigate and recommend safer alternative materials and/or processes for product designs.
- Plus - Material compliance experience managing technical projects or programs a plus. Working cross-functionally with multiple disciplines is a plus.

Special Position Requirements
- Schedule: Monday-Friday, First Shift, 9/80 work week eligible. May require working outside core business hours.
- Physical Environment: Administration areas, Manufacturing/Production area, R&D lab, Warehouse.
- Physical Demands: Warehouse environment, walking and standing regularly, and also moving inventory within the warehouse on a periodic basis. May be required to lift light items under 25 lbs, and/or use special equipment (e.g., forklift) to move heavier items. No special vision requirements.
- Travel: 10% expected travel, as required.
- Regulatory Compliance Requirements: None.
What We Offer
The anticipated TTC range for this role is 58,750.30 - $109,107.70 USD Annual. The Company reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s status protected by local, state, or federal law.
